The Mecca That Is, Gold Valley!
Now I will always love this place, its where I meet loads of mates, meet some amazing angler and really learnt my water craft skills, how to feed and loads more! But this place just doesn't hold match sized Carp of 5LB - 8LB fish is holds high doubles in its Gold Lake. My P.B Carp of 19LB 4 Ounces is from Gold Lake on a Match there, on the Pellet Waggler feeding and fishing with 8mm Pellets, what a fight!
This place holds some of the biggest Match competitions in the UK like Maver Match This Qualifier which uses every single lake on the complex! Run by John Raison and his team its an amazing place whether you want a day on the bank after Carp or Silvers or want to compete in the Open Matches against some of the UK's top Match Anglers!
Basingstoke Canal
I have to admit I have only fished a few areas of the Basingstoke Canal and have ideas of venturing along it more in the near future! But the canal is huge, running for roughly 37miles through towns and very quiet areas of the South East!
There are many species in the canal but you do have to go look for them! Carp patrol the margins and the Pike in the winter start there hunting. but there are many Silver species too! But you have to go find them! And I guess that's the great thing about the canal, you just never know!

This is the place I really learnt to fish and still visit quite regularly! It has all manner of species from Roach, Bream, Perch, Tench and Carp and Pike.
About a 8 minute walk there is a Tackle Up where you can buy day/season tickets. Great team in there and very friend advice!
